Assessment Strategy
Evaluation is conducted through a combination of assignments, coursework/essays, and end-of-semester written examinations. While weighting varies by study unit, this blended approach allows students to effectively demonstrate learning outcomes. Note that not all units require written exams; some are evaluated entirely through coursework where this method is deemed most appropriate for the subject matter.
Teaching, Learning, and Practical Training
This course focuses on mastering the fundamental skills of International Tourism. A key component is learning various European languages to enhance basic communication with international clientele. Additionally, learners are provided with a three-month placement at hotels and resorts to apply their knowledge in a real-world setting.
Lecturers assess learners based on their practical hands-on performance, as well as through coursework assignments and written examinations.
Program Overview
The program is academically and professionally oriented, offering specialized knowledge in tourism and hospitality business management. Key areas of study include:
- Finance, Human Resources, Facilities, and Operations.
- Destination Marketing.
- Specific work techniques and the use of digital/computer tools.
The syllabus also addresses the dynamic nature of this increasingly international sector, focusing on the impacts of, and issues arising within, the tourism and hospitality fields.
Course Objectives
This introductory course is designed to provide learners with a comprehensive understanding of the tourism industry, complemented by practical training within hotels and holiday resorts.
